About Chamomile

Chamomile, sometimes spelled camomile, is the name of several plants in the Asteraceae family. These plants bear a strong resemblance to daisies, and are commonly used in herbal infusions that serve a variety of purposes. Some common conditions that chamomile is used to treat include hay fever, inflammation, insomnia, ulcers, as well as others.

About Chamomile Essential Oil

Chamomile oil is extracted from the flowers of the chamomile plant, and has a fresh, rich smell that is often described as fruity, sweet, or apple-like. Here at Goddess of Spring, LLC, we carry three types of chamomile essential oil: Roman Chamomile, Moroccan Chamomile, and Blue Chamomile oil.

Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

Roman chamomile essential oil is known for its skin-healing attributes. It has very soothing, calming smell that lends itself to aromatherapy applications, and those combined properties make it a prime candidate for body and skin care products.

Moroccan Chamomile Essential Oil

Moroccan chamomile essential oil is not from a true chamomile plant and hasn’t been used for as long as other traditional chamomile oils. This type of oil comes from another plant that is more common in the Mediterranean and the Middle East and is primarily used for aromatherapy and perfumes.

Blue Chamomile Essential Oil

Blue chamomile essential oil received its name due to its high content of azulene, the main active ingredient in chamomile that bears the tell-tale blue color. Blue chamomile is derived from the German chamomile plants that were bred specifically for the acquisition of azulene. Like Roman chamomile, blue chamomile is sought for its skin care benefits.
